Religious leaders call CA legislators to support shared sacrifice and shared responsibility...
On May 9 religious leaders from across the state led an interfaith service and silent procession to kick off California State of Emergency, a week of actions by teachers, parents and public workers from Cathedral Square to the Sacramento State Capitol to ask legislators to pass revenue solutions that are reasonable and fair for all Californians.
The religious leaders called on legislators to protect the right to a decent life for all Californians: faith, family, food, shelter, education, employment, health care and housing.
On May 13, California State of Emergency Rallies took place across the state with tens of thousands in attendance. Final remarks by Rev. Carol Been at the Sacramento rally can be read here.

CLUE ORANGE COUNTY
EDUCATION PROJECT |
Mission Statement:
Our Mission is to foster unity among teachers, school workers, parents and local faith communities to be a voice of change for equal access to quality public education.
Vision Statement:
We envision a thriving public education system in Orange County, renewed by local commitment, support and investment in our schools so all children can achieve their greatest potential.
Values:
- We value cooperation, creativity and local voice in addressing systemic issues. We believe that parents, teachers and impacted communities can join together to find solutions for challenges facing our public school system in a spirit of respect and cooperation.
- We value quality education as a key for overcoming poverty. Education provides tools that lift communities out of poverty and helps individuals gain access to greater opportunities.
- We are inspired and called by our faith. We seek to better know and follow God who loves justice and calls us to care for each other giving special concern for the poor and the marginalized.
- If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers, in any of the towns of the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand to your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks. Deut. 15:7
- "Did not your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? . . . He pled the cause of the afflicted and needy; then it was well. Is that not what it means to know Me?" declares the LORD. Jer. 22:16
- Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. John 13: 11-2
- To whom much has been given much will be required. Luke 12:48
